About Me
Professional Life
I am a UX Design Researcher specialized in healthcare technology, vulnerable populations, and using big data for social good.
Though my research training is not formally in UX, I have been conducting user research for the past three years in my current role at the University of Texas at Austin. I have sharpened my skills by collaborating with industry partners at Maven Wave as well as senior researchers that specialize in qualitative research and healthcare technology.
Over the years, I have worked on multiple research projects outside of user experience, however my primary role has been with developing an overdose surveillance system for the state of Texas (TxCOPE). This project is what showed me the wonderful intersection of research and product development that I am in pursuit of today.
Personal Life
I am originally from the Rio Grande Valley (the southern border of Texas), but have been living in Austin Texas since 2019.
When I am not working you will probably find me in the kitchen, on a bike trail, playing spikeball, gardening, or throwing frisbees at a park. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and going out with coworkers to bond over brews.
Talk to me about food, music, TV shows, or cats as I love to chat and listen. Being passionate about (and working in) addiction science and sexual health also equips me with knowledge that I love to discuss and pass on.
